Whoops! If you ordered "The Testaments" on Amazon --the follow-up to "The Handmaid's Tale" by MARGARET ATWOOD-- you may have gotten it a little early.
Turns out Amazon sent it out a bit early, since it wasn't supposed to be sent out until it appeared in bookstores Sep 10. The American Booksellers Association was ticked off about the "flagrant violation of the agreed protocol in releasing this book to the public."
That's because a store that did the same thing would be punished because they released it early. And (of course) meaning they don't want the public using Amazon instead of buying books at stores, thinking they might get it earlier.RYAN MURPHY is remaking "A Chorus Line" into a TV miniseries for Netflix. The project was revealed in Time magazine when it hit the stands Tuesday. Murphy is also reportedly working on a limited series about the designer HALSTON starring EWAN McGREGOR as well as another on ANDY WARHOL.
The MARSHALL TUCKER BAND will be hitting the road for a 36-show fall tour , called the "Through Hell & High Water... and Back Tour," kicking off in Washington state on Sep 05.
In Scranton, PA, the folks at BMC Toys are putting together a line of green plastic soldiers who are... women! WNEP /Scranton reports the company already makes thousands of those green plastic soldiers you probably had when you were a kid. But now, they're including women, like a historically accurate U.S. Army nurse. They'll have others as well, in sets that will be out by Christmas of next year (2020).
