The Television Critics Association winter press tour revealed some TV news on Saturday:
--JUSTIN CHAMBERS is leaving ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" after 15 years. His character, Alex Karev, began as a surgical intern on the series, then was a resident at Seattle Grace Hospital and a pediatric surgeon.
--NBC announced KRISTEN WELKER, who covers the White House for NBC News, will be the new weekend co-anchor for NBC News, co-anchoring with fellow NBC News White House correspondent PETER ALEXANDER.
--The Syfy network has picked up a series based on the iconic horror character Chucky, the central figure in the "Child's Play" film franchise. The series will start as the doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, and you can guess what comes next... perhaps a new murder a week...?
--The folks at Syfy are also working on a new series called "The League of Pan," based on the Peter Pan fairy tale. The network says the series will pick up with Wendy Darling and those Lost Boys 10 years after the original film. Now that they're all grown up, they must get back together and return to Neverland "to face a new evil that threatens the very existence of the magical place they once called home, reigniting bitter rivalries and unearthing twisted secrets from their past."
--JIMMY FALLON will be hosting an all-new variety series based on some of his most popular "Tonight Show" bits with music and with celebrities. The show, called "That's My Jam," will premiere during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this summer on NBC.OZZY OSBOURNE and ELTON JOHN have joined and put together a soon-to-be-released duet reportedly about "the end of their lives."
Called "Ordinary Man," it'll be on Ozzy's new album of the same name, which also reportedly features GUNS 'N ROSES guitarist SLASH, too.See ya: Finally, last week's decision from England's PRINCE HARRY and wife MEGHAN MARKLE have made London's Madame Tussauds wax museum to (gasp!) remove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from its royal family display.
The museum claims the move is (quote), "to mirror their 'progressive new role within the Royal institution'."
Madame Tussauds in New York City will also reportedly be moving the couple to another area as well.Fast food news: Burger King has introduced a new Cheddar Bacon King Sandwich. A kind of one-up spin-off from their bacon-cheeseburger, the new burger will contain two quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patties topped with thick-cut smoked bacon, four slices of cheddar cheese, ketchup and mayonnaise all on a soft sesame seed bun. The difference --cheddar cheese instead of American cheese.
