Never gonna happen: Today is the big rally for PRESIDENT TRUMP at Mount Rushmore --and the President has said there need be no social distancing. However, I would give anything to see somebody sew several sheets together and hang them as a mask for one of the Presidents up there.
Show biz: Variety reports there's a movie in the works about former BEATLES Manager BRIAN EPSTEIN called “Midas Man,” the guy PAUL McCARTNEY often referred to as “the fifth Beatle.” Epstein had a wider career than just managing the Beatles --he also worked with music artists such as GERRY AND THE PACEMAKERS and CILLA BLACK, and helped promote musicians such as JIMI HENDRIX, THE WHO, CREAM and PINK FLOYD.
Postponed: the folks at the Screen Actors Guild have also postponed the 2021 SAG Awards until March 14, putting them six weeks before the Oscars. The original ceremony was set for January 24.
CONAN O’BRIEN has decided to move his set out of his home and begin filming new episodes at Los Angeles’ Largo at The Coronet beginning Monday.
This means he's the first late-night host to get out of his home during this pandemic.
VANILLA ICE will be doing a show tonight at Emerald Point Bar & Grill in Austin, TX. This is an unusual performance simply because Texas governor GREG ABBOTT closed all bars in the state last week. But --the place is technically considered a restaurant, because (according to the Austin Chronicle), it gets 51 percent of its sales from food --meaning it's exempt from the order. Ice tweeted yesterday “I take the coronavirus serious. But we can’t live in a bubble. I think at this point we all understand the severity of it. practice social distancing and wear a mask. This is an outside venue, Fourth of July on the lake with fireworks. Plenty of room for distancing.”
Fast food sad news: CNN reports NPC International --the folks which operate 12-hundred Pizza Huts and nearly 400 Wendy's restaurants in the US-- has filed for bankruptcy. The biggest problem, of course, it the shutdowns caused by the coronavirus. NPC sez it'll continue to operate its restaurants while it goes thru the bankruptcy process.
