Add JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE to the growing voices in support of getting rid of Confederate monuments. In a Twitter post Monday, Justin said “Removing them is a symbol of respect for Black people in America and it’s a step toward progress and actual equality for all.” Later, on Instagram, Justin added “There are roughly 1,848 confederate statues of in the US. More than half are in the South, and it’s not acceptable. No one should be protecting the legacies of Confederate leaders and slave owners.”
Meanwhile, the folks at Walmart have forked over a cool $100-grand to be used towards replacing Arkansas' pair of statues at the U.S. Capitol honoring people who defended the Confederacy with new statues honoring the late singer JOHNNY CASH and civil rights activist DAISY BATES. Of course, WalMart continues to keep its headquarters in Arkansas.
FYI: Bates was the only woman to speak at MARTIN LUTHER KING's March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. She passed away in 1999.
FOX News reports the latest anti-face mask story --this time with a tragic ending. In Bayonne, France, a bus driver was attacked by several people he refused to let aboard because they were not wearing face masks. The 58-year-old bus driver was dragged off the bus and kicked and beaten so badly he was later declared brain dead.
Fast food: The folks at Hostess are introducing S’mores CupCakes starting this Thursday --but exclusively at WalMart locations. The yellow cake cupcake has a toasted marshmallow creamy filling, and are topped with chocolate icing. No word on calories, but one of their chocolate cupcakes has 170 calories.
TV Ratings: No matter how much you enjoy plugging The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, it had the lowest number of viewers this year on ESPN since 2005 --less than a million. In case you missed it, JOEY CHESTNUT and MIKI SUDO won again.
