Emmy nominations were delivered yesterday, and HBO fell behind Netflix for the second time in the last three years in overall nominations --Netflix had 160 nominations, a new record for the most nominations for a single network or streaming platform. HBO had just 107 nods, although it did have the most-nominated show in “Watchmen,” which picked up 26 nominations. Netflix's most nominated show was “Ozark” (with 18), and “The Crown” (with 13).
One of the interesting nominations went to BRAD PITT, who received one for playing Dr. ANTHONY FAUCI on "Saturday Night Live" last April. It's kind of cool, because when Fauci was asked on CNN earlier that month who might play him, he said "Brad Pitt, of course" ...and the rest, as they say, is history.
Hollywood insiders say there's going to be a bunch of talent agents fired at Creative Artists Agency, which reps actors, directors, writers, producers, musical artists, comedians, authors, athletes, coaches, broadcasters, teams, leagues, chefs, designers, fashion talent, consumer brands, and even live events. Hollywood trades say there are about 90 agents getting pink slips and another 275 staffers getting at least temporary layoffs from offices in LA, Nashville, New York and London.
As you may remember, TAMAR BRAXTON was taken to the hospital earlier this month (Thursday, July 16) after she was found unresponsive at her residence in downtown LA. At the time her boyfriend told the responding cops that he thought Tamar had been drinking and taking prescription pills and may have overdosed. So it probably comes as no surprise that her WE tv series, “Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!” has been postponed and will now debut Thursday, September 10 instead of this Thursday.
