Movie news: You may have seen him on "Saturday Night Live" with his take-off on "MacGyver" called "MacGruber" --now WILL FORTE is bringing back the character for a brand-new series on the new NBCUniversal streaming service, Peacock, next year (2021). If you're not familiar, you can check out the "MacGruber" film, done ten years ago with Forte, along with KRISTEN WIIG, RYAN PHILLIPPE and VAL KILMER. No word on his co-stars for the new series, however.
Also coming to Peacock: SARA BAREILLES starring in a new TINA FEY comedy called “Girls5eva.” The series is about an all-girl group from the 90s, since broken up and each member going in a different direction, getting back together for a reunion. Bareilles' character is managing her family’s small Italian restaurant in Queens, but when the occasion arises, decides to get the other four girls back together. No word on who'll be joining her in the series, either.
As expected, SIMON COWELL will not be there for tonight's debut of this season's “America’s Got Talent” --which means you'll just see the other judges --HEIDI KLUM, SOFIA VERGARA and HOWIE MANDEL handling their socially distant auditions tonight and Wednesday.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally began over the weekend with an estimated 250-thousand bikers and a SMASH MOUTH concert despite coronavirus pandemic. Not a lot of social distancing or masks at the concert, with Smash Mouth frontman STEVE HARWELL summing it up for the crowd of around a thousand people, saying: "We’re all here together tonight! F--- that COVID sh*t!" Also this week, concerts from TRAPT, BUCKCHERRY, DROWNING POOL, NIGHT RANGER, LIT, 38 SPECIAL, QUIET RIOT and BIG SKILLET.
Fast food update: Today --Tuesday, August 11th-- is “Straight “A” Tuesday” at your local Krispy Kreme. You'll get a FREE Straight “A” Dozen with any dozen purchase, and you can share them with any educator in your life, whether they're teachers, mentors, parents, siblings, neighbors, friends. And during the rest of the week (thru the 14th), Krispy Kreme is inviting teachers to enjoy a free Original Glazed doughnut and brewed coffee. They just have to show their teacher ID.
