Coronavirus update: The pandemic has a new victim --Liverpool's Cavern Club, which owners say has been losing nearly $40-thousand dollars a week since the lockdown began in March. The Cavern Club, which opened in Liverpool in1957, was one of the first clubs to host the BEATLES back in 1961, and also had THE ROLLING STONES, STEVIE WONDER, DAVID BOWIE and ADELE before the lockdown began. Now, the owners said they had to give 20 workers a pink slip and another 20 may have to go as well.
Pandemic update #2: Bad news at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis where tests on the returning midshipmen have found around two percent COVID-19 positive. That's about the same as West Point --the US Military Academy-- which says 1.5 percent of its cadets tested positive after returning from their summer break.
There's a new date for the Billboard Music Awards. Variety says NBC and Dick Clark Productions will air the show originally scheduled for April 29th on this coming Wednesday, October 14th at 8 pm. KELLY CLARKSON is set to host the show for a third time.
The 2020 Democratic National Convention, which begins today (Monday) has announced musical performers for its (virtual) stage: LEON BRIDGES, THE CHICKS (formerly the Dixie Chicks), COMMON, BILLIE EILISH, JENNIFER HUDSON, JOHN LEGEND, BILLY PORTER, MAGGIE ROGERS, PRINCE ROYCE, STEPHEN STILLS and others, during all four nights of the convention.
TV News: They're rebooting the show, “Clueless,” at NBC. The show was originally on ABC from 1996-1997 and then UPN from 1997-1999. The new show will have a new star as well --the "Dionne" character previously playedby STACEY DASH will be taking over from ALICIA SILVERSTONE's "Cher" as the new most popular girl in school --and there will be no "Cher," for reasons yet to be revealed. No word on the actress who'll be playing Dionne, yet, either
