Remake news #1: There's a “Powerpuff Girls” live-action TV series coming from GREG BERLANTI and DIABLO CODY. Deadline reports the CW network will be getting it, but no word yet on potential stars.
Remake news #2: Slash Film reports the guys who were shooting Legendary’s new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" sequel, have been canned after just a week of production and all of the footage they shot has been thrown out. The movie --which is being shot in Bulgaria-- reportedly will pick up the action after the events of TOBE HOOPER’s original 1974 classic.
Remake news #3: There's a remake of JOHN CARPENTER's 1982 horror classic “The Thing,” and Carpenter himself is back behind the cameras for this one. Variety picked up the news at a film festival where Carpenter revealed the news during a panel discussion.
Remake news #4: Yikes! They're going to remake “The Nutty Professor”! The movie was originally done in 1963 starring JERRY LEWIS and remade in 1996 with EDDIE MURPHY. Now, Variety reports the folks behind “Scream 5” are putting together a new version, although there's no word on the professor --or the rest of the cast yet.
The headline says it all: JERRY FALWELL Jr. says his wife had an affair with the 21 year old Miami pool boy they befriended.
He's ba-a-a-ack! News anchor SHEPARD SMITH, who left Fox News last year, will reportedly be joining CNBC this fall to anchor a nightly newscast. The NY Times reported that Shep left because he'd had been dismayed by some of the pro-Trump cheerleading by Fox News commentators, and he had been the subject of on-air mockery from the cable channel's TUCKER CARLSON.
Everybody's nightmare: In Detroit, workers at a neighborhood funeral home were asked to pick up a 20-year-old Southfield woman who'd been declared dead by paramedics. But when they arrived at the funeral home, workers found her breathing, and immediately called the Detroit Fire Department's EMS unit. The woman was immediately taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, where she's recovering.
