Tomorrow (Tuesday) is Apple's annual fall update, and tech watchers say the company will reveal updates to the Apple Watch and iPad. Apple usually announces their latest iPhones at the September event, but sources say the latest iPhone (number 12, if you're keeping track) won't launch until October. The hot rumor is number 12 will feature the ability to connect to the new, ultra-fast 5G wireless networks being rolled out by carriers.
Hurricane trivia: There's no shortage of hurricanes this season. Currently, in the Atlantic Ocean, there's Paulette (which hit Bermuda last night) as well as two tropical depressions (Rene and Twenty) and in the Gulf of Mexico, and Tropical Storm Sally, which is basically headed for New Orleans and could arrive as a Hurricane on Tuesday. But if we're already up to Sally, what names are left? Only three this year --Teddy, Vicky and Wilfred. What happens if there's more? We move onto the Greek alphabet for names of storms: Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, Epsilon, and so on.
Another Confederate statue was taken down on Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Confederate soldier, known as "At Ready," was taken down by a crane, making it the latest statue of Columbus or Confederate statues to be removed. There has been opposition to the removal of the statues, with PRESIDENT TRUMP saying earlier this year that he would "not even consider" renaming military bases named after Confederate generals.
Update: Deadline reports that the latest Wonder Woman movie, “Wonder Woman 1984,” is now scheduled to be released on Christmas. That's a scant week after Warner Brothers other blockbuster, “Dune,” which will be out on December 18.
Meanwhile, word is that Warner Brothers is reportedly planning two more movies about The Joker, and the big rumor over the weekend was that the star, JOAQUIN PHOENIX, was reportedly offered $50-million dollars to star in both movies (Joker 2 And Joker 3).
TV news: the game show “You Bet Your Life,” is reportedly coming back to the Fox network. The show was was originally hosted back in 1947 by GROUCHO MARX, with GEORGE FENNEMAN as his announcer on ABC Radio. Within a couple of years, it moved to CBS Radio and then NBC-TV and Radio in late 1950, lasting until 1960. Then, in 1980, BUDDY HACKETT hosted a new TV version, and yet still another version was hosted by BILL COSBY for nine months in 1992 and 1993. This latest version will be hosted by JAY LENO and is scheduled to premiere next fall (of 2021).
