Movie news: Bad news for AMC Movies, which said it could run out of money by the end of the year, noting that attendance has stayed down 85% in the US because of people not going to films because of the coronavirus and delayed movie releases because of the pandemic.
More coronavirus news: a 25-year-old who caught the coronavirus for the first time in mid-March, got it again in June. Doctors say the second time was 'much more severe' and he needed hospital treatment after his lungs could not get enough oxygen into his body. He's recovered but the study in the Lancet questions exactly how much immunity can be built up to the virus. Doctors say even people who have recovered should continue to follow guidelines around social distancing, face masks and hand washing.
More movie news: actress SELENA GOMEZ will reportedly produce and star in the horror movie “Dollhouse.” Hollywood trades say the film is set in New York City’s elite fashion scene. It's not the first horror movie she's done, in fact, her next film role will be in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” along with STEVE MARTIN and MARTIN SHORT.
Meanwhile, the folks at Amazon have reportedly picked up EDDIE MURPHY’s ‘Coming 2 America’ From Paramount Pictures and will release it on December 18. You may remember the original film, in which Eddie played an African prince who traveled to Queens, NY, in the hopes of finding a woman he could marry. In the sequel, he's set to become king of the African nation when he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America --and bows to his dying father's wishes to groom the son as the crown prince.
Music News --STEVIE WONDER held a virtual press conference Yesterday, and said he's left Motown Records --where he's spent his whole career. He also released two new songs and said all the proceeds from one of them will benefit Feeding America.
Off Broadway, kinda: the cast of the Broadway show "Hamilton" are doing a "Virtual Fundraiser" for Joe Biden's Campaign. A filmed version of the show, with the original cast and LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA in the lead role, will be streaming Friday, October 16th at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern) on Disney Plus.
But they're not the only ones doing a Biden benefit --on On Thursday night, guests from five different casts of “Star Trek” are also joining together for a virtual panel in the name of Biden’s campaign as well.
As we mentioned before, the folks at Apple introduced the latest iPhone --number 12-- yesterday, featuring four new models which will be in stores later this month.
Basically there's the standard iPhone 12 with a 6.1-inch display, but it's 11% thinner, 15% smaller, and 16% lighter than iPhone 11. It starts at $799. There's also a smaller iPhone 12 Mini ($699) with a 5.4-inch display; an iPhone 12 Pro ($999) a bigger 6.1-inch display, and an iPhone 12 Pro Max ($1,099) with a big, 6.7-inch display.
