Coronavirus update #1: One of the problems with airline travel is sitting in the plane and wondering if you'll catch the virus from one of the passengers. And now, Delta has taken a positive step by banning 460 passengers who refused to wear masks to its 'no-fly' list. Delta is among several US airlines which required passengers (and aircrew) to wear non-vented fabric face coverings during flights back in May.
Coronavirus update #2: "The Price is Right" is coming back to TV, but with changes in place because of the coronavirus. There will be no studio audience, and the set has been changed to add social distance. Host DREW CAREY now has a beard, and contestants must wear masks until they head, "Come on down" to run out of the wings to their places on stage. The return of the show will consist of three prime-time specials, "The Price is Right at Night," featuring frontline and essential workers. The first one airs tomorrow (Tuesday night) at 8.
Tragedy in Porter, Texas, where a three-year-old boy died at his birthday party after accidentally shooting himself in the chest. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said they think the boy found the pistol after it fell out of a relative’s pocket and then shot himself in the chest.
Yet still another tropical storm --potentially becoming a hurricane-- has reared its ugly head in the Caribbean. If you're keeping track, that'll be Tropical Storm #Zeta in this record-breaking season, which is expected to head towards the northern Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, the turn northwest and head towards the central Gulf Coast of the U.S. by the middle of the week, potentially as a hurricane, since the Gulf is still warm and could intensify the storm.
Coronavirus update #3: The folks in New York City will be seeing their first trial since the pandemic began today (Monday), but it's going to be a bit different. The NY Daily News reports the courtroom is now equipped with plexiglass barriers in front of the judge, as well as in front of the defense lawyers, defendant and prosecutors. And because everybody in the courtroom must remain six feet away from others, the defendant and their lawyer --who normally sit side by side and can whisper to one another during the proceedings-- will be at opposite ends of their table, and must wear Bluetooth headsets so they can speak to each other without anyone else hearing their conversations. There will only be six jurors in the jury box, spaced apart, with the other jurors seated throughout the courtroom, in the audience.
Two more episodes of “Saturday Night Live” have been set for this fall --one next weekend on Halloween (October 31) hosted by JOHN MULANEY with the STROKES as the musical guest, and a final one which will air right after the election, on Saturday, November 7th. No host or musical guest has been announced for that episode yet.
