It'll be the Daily Show's host, TREVOR NOAH, who'll be hosting the Grammy Awards this year, taking over from ALICIA KEYS, who hosted the show for the last two years. Interestingly, he was also nominated for a Grammy a year ago for best comedy album for "Son of Patricia." The Grammy Awards will be Sunday, January. 31st on CBS beginning at 8 pm (Eastern).
Looks like KEN JENNINGS is not only going to host "Jeopardy!" for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year, but he's also up for a Grammy Award. Yesterday, his name was announced because he was nominated for the Best Spoken Word Album Grammy. Turns out he co-narrated the audio version of ALEX TREBEK’s book, "The Answer Is...: Reflections of My Life," which came out this past July. Ken said he'd like to win the Grammy for Alex, but also that he’d enjoy “taking down” MERYL STREEP, who was also nominated as part of the cast for an audio version of E.B. White children’s classic, "Charlotte’s Web."
While we're on the game show track, we should mention that the "College Bowl" quiz show is coming back to TV, specifically, to NBC. The network gave a 10-episode, straight-to-series order for the revival which will be hosted by former NFL quarterback PEYTON MANNING.
Note content: The NY Times reports that the Scottish Parliament has OK'd a measure that will makes free period products available to anyone who needs them. It's the first country to do so. According to a Scottish survey, nearly a third of girls and women between the ages 14 and 21 encountered problems either affording or accessing sanitary products during the first national lockdown this year. And since schools have been closed during the pandemic, more girls were left without the necessary supplies. The new law grants free access to tampons and sanitary pads in schools, colleges, universities and all other public buildings.
Hats off to the restaurant Costes, which took extraordinary measures to get diners during the pandemic. Because their dining numbers were going down, the guys at the Michelin restaurant in Budapest set up diners on a ferris wheel one night last month. The 70 diners who bought dinner were treated to a ride in their own carriage while being served a four-course meal of braised oxtail and duck liver, slightly cured pike perch, prime rib, and poached pear "belle Hélène." And it was so successful, the owner says they're gonna do it again in the Spring
