Although the protest at the Capitol took up most of the news yesterday, there were a couple of other updates...
The folks at the Animal Planet cable channel say they've scheduled the annual Puppy Bowl (this would be number 17, or XVII) has been scheduled for Sunday, Feb 07 at 2 p.m. (Eastern), on both the Discovery+ and Animal Planet networks. The three-hour "contest" will feature 70 puppies from 22 different shelters.
The folks at the Recording Academy have also re-scheduled the annual Grammy Awards for March 14th --although there's a slight problem --it's the same date for the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Whoops! Stand by for more scheduling announcements from either organization --the folks at SAG-AFTRA were more than a bit upset about the decision. The Grammy's should be hosted by "The Daily Show" host and comedian TREVOR NOAH.
For those of you who love details of celebrity affairs, look for a new HBO special on TIGER WOODS' affair with nightclub manager, hostess, and TV correspondent RACHEL UCHITEL. She made headlines in 2010 as his mistress, and in the upcoming special, "Tiger," she blabs all about their first meeting and the dirt about their affair --which Tiger apparently referred to as "plugging in." After their first liaison, she says candidly "I remember thinking how am I ever going to be with a mere mortal again because so many people put him on such a pedestal and here he was in my bed, and he was my Tiger." The first of two parts of "Tiger" premieres on HBO on Jan. 10; the second part a week later.
As you probably know, Dr. DRE was admitted to the hospital for a brain aneurysm earlier this week, and while he's been at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, word is that somebody tried to burglarize his home. Nice.
Look for KATIE COURIC to host "Jeopardy" after the late ALEX TREBEK’s final episodes air this week. The LA Times reports she'll guest host the game show for a week. As you probably know, KEN JENNINGS has also been booked as a guest-host as well. Aleks' final show will be this Friday's episode. Producers of the show also say Friday's episode will also include “a special tribute to the life and work of the man who captained America’s Favorite Quiz Show with skill, style, and sophistication for 36+ years.”
