Fast food: Today's (Thursday, February 18th) the day Krispy Kreme is celebrating the historic landing of NASA’s Perseverance Rover on Mars with the release of a limited-edition Mars Doughnut for one day --today only. The red donut is creme filled and sprinkled with chocolate cookie crumbs.
Passing: Conservative talk-show host RUSH LIMBAUGH died yesterday of advanced lung cancer. He was 70. He'd previously revealed the diagnosis in early February 2020, after which then-President DONALD TRUMP awarded him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the 2020 State of the Union address a day later. While non-Conservatives didn't like Limbaugh, there's no question that his talk show brought a new wave of listeners to AM Radio, which had not been doing well. You'll find more on Rush elsewhere in All Access.
Looks like MADONNA's daughter, LOURDES "Lola" LEON, will be the new face for MARC JACOBS' Spring campaign. Lourdes, who's now 24, is both a singer and model, but you may not have seen her since she didn't even have an instagram account until this past January. But you'll be seeing her a lot more in Marc Jacobs' ads.
Tube Talk: CBS says they're putting together a fourth NCIS series -- "NCIS: Hawaii." The series would reportedly be shot in Hawaii. The original "NCIS" series, staring MARK HARMON, is the most watched series on TV, with more than 15 million total viewers. It's in its 18th and possibly last season, since there's no word on whether there will be a 19th, because Harmon's deal is up at the end of the season --and the speculation is that CBS may end the original if Harmon won't re-sign. We'll see.
More TV: “The Neighborhood” has been renewed for Season 4 and “Bob Hearts Abishola” has been renewed for Season 3 at CBS.
Even more TV: The Wrap reports Peacock, the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service, is going to air a revival of “The Real Housewives of Miami,” which originally ran for three seasons from 2011 to 2013. No word yet on which cast members might return for the series.
Movie news: Academy Award-winning filmmaker JOHN RIDLEY is making a film about SHIRLEY CHISHOLM, America's first Black Congresswoman in 1968, and lasted for seven terms in the House of Representatives. Ridley will write and direct the biopic with REGINA KING playing Chisholm.
When you pick up some booze outside the US, it may not be what you're looking for. In Lincoln, England, the Zabka Polish store was selling more than 190 illegal medicines, and five bottles of illegal 'Krackoff' vodka containing 150-thousand times the safe level of industrial alcohol. The store owner attempted to claim the vodka was for "his own personal use" but as you might have guessed, he would have died if he'd tried to drink the fake vodka.
With the drop in price of Tesla shares on Tuesday, it meant ELON MUSK is no longer the richest man in the world, dropping (gasp!) all the way to number two. JEFF BEZOS is now back in the top spot, although less than a billion bucks separates the pair. Bloomberg.com's list of the top-10 richest people:
- Larry Ellison, Oracle
- Sergey Brin, Alphabet (Google)
- Larry Page, Alphabet (Google)
- Zhong Shanshan, Nongfu Spring and other Chinese beverages
- Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway
- Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook
- Bernard Arnault, LVMH (Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hennessey, Marc Jacobs, Sephora, and many more)
- Bill Gates, Microsoft
- Elon Musk, Tesla
- Jeff Bezos, Amazon
