Survey sez: What was your favorite age? A new survey from TruNiagen finds most Americans believe their “sweet spot” in life is 36 years old --not in the 20s. Interestingly, most people surveyed also said they believe they not only look younger than their true age (by an average of five years), but they also feel younger by about six years... because they are trying to fight aging by eating right, exercising, and drinking water.
Question for the listeners: What's the best age... and why?
Name change? CHUCK HOSKIN, Jr., principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, told Car and Driver magazine he doesn't particularly like the Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SUVs. "I'm sure this comes from a place that is well-intended, but it does not honor us by having our name plastered on the side of a car," he says. "Our proud name should not be a corporate marketing tool. (It) dates back to before recorded history. It's against all odds that we are even here.... In 2021, it seems wholly inappropriate for a corporation to continue to make a profit off our identity."
The folks at Jeep sold more than 345-thousand Cherokee and Grand Cherokees last year. With companies like the Atlanta Braves getting rid of their mascot Chief Noc-A-Homa, and the NCAA banning Native American mascots, is it time for Jeep to change the name?
Although the people at HBO Max originally said that CHRIS NOTH's character, Mr. Big, wouldn't be returning for the new "Sex and the City" revival, on his Instagram page, Chris has not confirmed or denied the reports, instead saying things like "Everything changes- including announcements in the rags." He as talking about the report in the NY Post that originally said he wouldn't be coming back. And he's responded to other fans questions in the same way. So we'll have to see! Meantime, it still seems that although CYNTHIA NIXON and KRISTIN DAVIS will also be returning, KIM CATTRALL, will not.
The folks at the Scripps National Spelling Bee say they'll be doing this year's contest in a mostly virtual format because of the Coronavirus, with their in-person competition limited to a dozen finalists who will get together on an ESPN campus at Walt Disney World in Florida for the show. The preliminary rounds will be held in mid-June, the semifinals on June 27 and the ESPN-televised finals on July 8. Last year's National Spelling Bee was cancelled for first time since 1945. There have also been other changes, including limiting this year's contestants to around 200 spellers
Today's other COVID story: hats off to LUCIA DeCLERCK, who turned 105 years old on January 25th --the very same day she was diagnosed with COVID-19. Lucia, who lives in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, was mostly asymptomatic, but had to stay in her nursing home's COVID-19 unit for 14 days. PS: This makes the second pandemic she's survived --she was just two years old, living in Hawaii, when the Spanish flu began and she survived that as well. She told the NY Times one of the reasons she made it was because of the nine gin-soaked golden raisins she eats every morning.
Wait --don't cry: Let's all feel sorry for Tesla bigwig ELON MUSK, who's dropped off the top of the list of the world's richest people after Tesla shares went back down because of their Bitcoin investment --which has dropped. Now, Amazon bigwig JEFF BEZOS is back on the top of the rich list. Awwww.
An interesting development for people who like to look at women's underwear on TV --although there will be no Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year, apparently the folks at Hulu have picked up a three-episode “The Rise and Fall of Victoria’s Secret” series. TheWrap reports the three, hour-long shows will focus on "communicating to customers but nothing similar in magnitude to the fashion show."
Former First Lady HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON is now a mystery writer. Her first book, called "State of Terror," will hit booksellers October 12th. Plotline reportedly is about a “novice” secretary of state, working in the administration of a rival politician, tries to solve a wave of terrorist attacks. In case you're interested, Hillary will be working with a co-author --LOUISE PENNY-- on this first novel. Louise has written 16 novels already herself.
