Scam-a-lamma: The latest email scam is a fake opinion survey which is supposed to be from Pfizer. The Better Business Bureau says any survey which claims to come from Pfizer, Astra Zeneca or Moderna --and promises to give you money for your answers-- is most likely a scam. The surveys all ask for your credit card information, and then use it to charge stuff for the scammers.
Movie news: Disney has hired KRISTEN WIIG and ANNIE MUMOLO, who wrote the movie, “Bridesmaids,” to write a new movie about Cinderella’s evil stepsisters. The film will reportedly start in the pair's early childhood, go through Cinderella's marriage to Prince Charming, and its aftermath. Although they're writing the live-action movie, Kristen and Annie will reportedly not be starring in it.
Variety reports Starz has picked up a new series starring COURTENEY COX, GREG KINNEAR and MIRA SORVINO. “Shining Vale” is a half-hour horror-slash-comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town. What they don't know is that the house they move into is one in which terrible atrocities have taken place... and the demons may still be there.
Add Budweiser to the folks who are offering freebies if you can show you've been vaccinated. They'll give a free round of beer to the first 10-thousand people to register at abeeronbud.com and upload a picture of an “I got vaccinated” sticker, a picture of a band-aid or a selfie at a vaccination location. In return, they get a $5.00 virtual debit card which can be redeemed for a single Budweiser beer. Of course, you must be over the age of 21. Residents of Alabama, California and Texas are not eligible.
Other places which will give you a freebie if you can prove you've been vaccinated:
--Krispy Kreme: a free doughnuts for a year
--Nathan's Famous: a free hot dog, but you must show up at their Coney Island flagship restaurant.
--Sam Adams: The first 10-thousand folks who post evidence that they've been vaccinated (i.e., a vaccine card or photo of their bandaged arm after their shot) on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #ShotForSam get $7 through Cash App which will buy you a Sam Adams.
Ever thought about buying an electric car? You'll need to if you live in Washington state, which just passed a bill banning the sale of new gas-powered cars in the state beginning in 2030. That's five years earlier than either California and Massachusetts, whose laws say you'll have until 2035.
And just in time --Ferrari says they'll roll out their "first all-electric Ferrari" in 2025. The company CEO JOHN ELKANN made the announcement during their annual meeting last week, although he gave no details --or what it might cost-- to investors.
Passings: HELEN McCRORY, who played Narcissa Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” movies and starred as Polly Gray in “Peaky Blinders,” died of cancer. She was just 52.
Passings: FELIX SILLA, who played Cousin Itt on “The Addams Family,” played a robot called Twiki on “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” and also a hang-gliding Ewok in “Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi.” Those were just a few of his many movie roles. He passed away Friday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 84.
Passings: Rapper BLACK ROB has passed away in an Atlanta hospital on Saturday. The former Bad Boy Records star was 51 and had suffered from multiple health problems, including several strokes and kidney failure, in the last few years.
As you probably know, rapper DMX died from complications of a drug overdose last week. He was 50 years old. There will be a memorial for him April 24 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for family, friends and fans. No word at this point about how many people will be let in because of social distancing.
