Only in Texas: You're having a fight with your mother while she's driving you around. What do you do? Jump out of the car. Happened Monday on Interstate 45 when a 15-year-old girl jumped out and landed in the next lane, where she was run over by another vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The cops are still looking for the person who ran over her, and say it's possible that the person was unaware that they hit someone. Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Gilliland said “Maybe they didn’t realize, but once they did strike [the girl], they should’ve realized it was a body and not debris or something. You may not have had time to stop, but once you run over a person, you really should stop,” he said.
Sports: Congrats to JESSICA SPRINGSTEEN, the 29-year-old daughter of BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and PATTI SCIALFA, who was picked as one of the four riders on the U.S. jumping team that will compete at the Tokyo Olympics. Jessica says just being selected would fulfill one of her lifelong dreams.
The Cannes Film Festival is underway, after being cancelled since the start of the pandemic a year-and half ago. SPIKE LEE is the Jury President this year. In all, Spike has actually had seven films premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, including “Do the Right Thing” (1989), “Jungle Fever” (1991), “Girl 6” (1996), “Summer of Sam” (1999), “Ten Minutes Older” (2002), and “BlacKkKlansman” (2018), which won him the big award, the Grand Prix.
Fast food: Are you one of those people who can't wrap your hands around --or can't finish-- one of those humongous double cheeseburgers at a fast food restaurant? Well, the folks at Burger King are doing a new, single edition of their popular Bacon King Sandwich. That'll get you a quarter-pound beef patty, three half-slices of thick-cut smoked bacon, melted American cheese, ketchup and mayo on a soft sesame seed bun. Is that enough for ya?
How many people have decided that all those tattoos they got when they were in their teens and twenties are now too much --or a problem for job interviews? CNN reports PETE DAVIDSON is getting rid of all of his tats that he'd like to forget. In his words, "I've made a lot of questionable choices, and they said by the time I'm 30, they should all be gone. So they got like two more years left of this." He admits the process is not only incredibly painful, but embarrassing, thanks to some of the designs.
Ch-ch-changes in BRITNEY SPEARS life, as SAM INGHAM, the lawyer who has represented Britney in her conservatorship for 13 years, is resigning. And LARRY RUDOLPH, who helped Britney get her first recording contract and was her manager for the last 25 years is also stepping down because he heard she was retiring. "Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire," he said. As her manager, I believe it is in Britney's best interest for me to resign from her team as my professional services are no longer needed. I've been with her for two-thirds of her life. I look at her almost like I look at my own daughter."
