No surprise: Former US president DONALD TRUMP sez he's gonna sue Google, Twitter and Facebook, claiming that he's the victim of censorship. Trump's Republican friends in Congress also released a memo yesterday saying they planned "to take on Big Tech" with antitrust lawsuits. None of the online companies have yet responded.
Teen Appeal: Look for the guys in BTS to do not one, but two shows with NBC’s JIMMY FALLON next Tuesday and Wednesday on July 13th and 14th. Tuesday, they'll talk with Fallon and debut their song, “Permission to Dance.” On Wednesday, they're scheduled to perform “Butter,” which has spent the past six weeks on top of the Billboard charts.
If you're a fan of JANE AUSTEN's novel, “Pride and Prejudice,” then you'll be psyched to find out that NBC's Peacock will be doing a "reality dating series" inspired by the book. How will THAT work? They'll be casting a "heroine" and putting her in a country castle over in England, and her "suitors" will show up and take her on carriage rides and boat rides on the nearby lake, using handwritten letters to communicate with her.
COVID update #1: You probably ought to be careful about sending unvaccinated children to summer camps. In Texas, where more than 450 adults and children from grades 6 to 12 attended a church camp, 57 of the adults and children tested positive.
COVID update #2: We've all heard about the Delta variant, which the CDC says is the most dominant strain of the disease in the US, with around 52 percent of the cases in the past week. But now, there's yet still another variant of the disease which the CDC has tagged "the Lambda variant," and is spreading in the UK after being discovered in Peru, where it has spread rapidly to become the most dominant strain in that country. It's also spread across South America and is coming into the US as well. No word yet on whether it's more transmissible than the other strains of the disease.
Finally, in the wake of the first transgender woman to win the Miss Nevada pageant last week, gotta say congratulations to MAURA SPENCE CARROLL, who just won the 2021 Miss Colorado pageant, and will be on her way to the Miss America pageant. Ms. Carroll gets the plug because she's a member of the US Army --a specialist in the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson. The Army went ahead and congratulated her with a post on its Facebook page, showing Carroll in her uniform next to a shot of her getting crowned Miss Colorado 2021.
