Cheeseburger time: National Cheeseburger Day is coming up this Saturday, September 18, 2021 (in other words --tomorrow), and as you may have guessed, several fast-food restaurants are celebrating:
--Nathan’s Famous will be bringing out its new Bacon Cheddar Cheesy Burger, with a half-pound Angus beef patty covered with applewood-smoked bacon, and Nathan’s hot, real cheddar cheese sauce. It'll run you 810 calories.
--McDonald’s is offering a Double Cheeseburger for 50-cents in their mobile app on Saturday. You get two pure beef burger patties seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper and topped with pickles, chopped onions, ketchup, mustard and two slices of melty American cheese on a lightly toasted bun. 450 Calories.
You're welcome.
Sorry to hear ELTON JOHN has postponed his upcoming 2021 UK and European tour until 2023, thanks to a hip injury he received this past summer when he "fell awkwardly on a hard surface." "(I've) been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since. Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving." Elton said he'd have to get an operation and resulting physical therapy to get back in shape. Elton, now 74, also said he hopes to be fit to restart the US leg of his tour next January (2022), starting in New Orleans.
CH-ch-changes for “Jeopardy!” Now that MIKE RICHARDS has been axed as host and ALEX TREBEK replacement, the NY Post reports the management of the game show is bringing back MAYIM BIALIK and record-setting former “Jeopardy!” champ KEN JENNINGS as hosts for the rest of the year ...and beyond. Mayim will host thru November 5th, after which she and Ken will split the hosting duties. And there may be even more changes, since the Wall Street Journal reports focus groups were "put off" about Ken when some of his old tweets resurfaced, one saying “nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair.” He's since apologized, but the heat goes on.
Got a vaccination card to prove you've had the COVID shots? Turns out China has been shipping fake cards into the US. The latest batch of around 50 bogus cards were intercepted by Customs and Border Patrol officers in Pittsburgh, PA on Tuesday. Another three-thousand bogus vaccine cards from China were seized earlier this year in Tennessee as well as at the Anchorage, Alaska airport. And if you're interested, buying, selling or using one of the counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards can get you a hefty fine or up to five years in prison, according to authorities.
Movies: Hollywood experts believe Disney’s “Shang-Chi” will be headed for a third weekend at the top of the movie box office. There are also two new movies opening nationwide --CLINT EASTWOOD’s “Cry Macho” and “Copshop” starring GERARD BUTLER.
More movies: Meanwhile, if you remember WHITNEY HOUSTON's classic film, "The Bodyguard," you may be surprised to find out there's a remake in the works. Variety says Tony-nominated playwright, MATTHEW LÓPEZ, will be behind the scenes to rework the script. Lots of people are wondering "Why do a remake?" Are you one?
