Whoops! The head of the CIA now has Covid. William J. Burns, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday. It's a little odd, because Burns --who's 65 years old-- is fully vaccinated and says he'll be working from home until he tests negative again. He has mild symptoms.
Add Canada to the countries who've vowed to eventually ban sales of combustion engine cars. Canada says they'll force automakers to require all new passenger car sales to be zero-emissions models by 2035. The government says this will have Canada reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
U Skippy Foods says people in 18 states need to return their peanut butter because the jars might contain stainless steel broken off from manufacturing equipment. HBO says their long-awaited "Game Of Thrones" prequel series, "House Of The Dragon," will premiere this coming August 21st on HBO and HBO Max. Check the "House Of The Dragon" Twitter site for some pictures of the stars as well.
Go-Go’s bass player Kathy Valentine has a new book out called “All I Ever Wanted: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Memoir.” Kathy, who's now 63, talks about her life, beginning with her childhood in Texas and the revelation that she did LSD and got pregnant as a pre-teen. She also says being raised by a single mom, they had drug dealers who'd sleep over at her house. Another childhood revelation is that when she was just 12 years old, she lost her virginity to the 14-year-old older brother of a friend, then became pregnant and had an abortion.
Lots of talk in Washington, DC, about whether former President Trump had a collection of burner phones --those pay-as-you-go mobile phones which you can buy without providing the kind of contact information you need with a regular wireless number. And the rumor mill is that's what he was using during those seven hours when the US Capitol was being attacked by that mob of his supporters. While Trump denied the report from the Washington Post, John Bolton, the president's former national security advisor, told CBS News that he and the former President had talked about using burner phones several times to avoid having their calls logged.
