Passing: Andrew Woolfolk, a longtime saxophonist for Earth, Wind & Fire. Phillip Bailey announced his passing on Instagram, noting that he'd been sick for over six years and had died at 71. "Great memories. Great Talent. Funny. Competitive. Quick witted. And always styling. Booski… I’ll see you on the other side, my friend," Bailey posted. Woolfolk was a member of E,W&F from 1973 to 1985, and again from 1987 to 1993. You can hear Woolfolk's stylings on their hits, including "September," "Let's Groove," "Boogie Wonderland" and "Shining Star."
More music: Lady Gaga has announced the new song from the movie “Top Gun: Maverick” called “Hold My Hand.” It'll be released on May 3rd. The film opens on May 27.
The B-52’s have announced a farewell tour, which will have the Tubes and KC & The Sunshine Band opening for them. The tour kicks off in Seattle on August 22, and runs thru mid-November in Atlanta.
Tube talk: Pete Davidson is getting a new TV series. CNN reports his new series, called "Bupkis," will be a live-action comedy, featuring a "fictionalized version" of Davidson's real life. Look for it coming up on Peacock.
More TV: Sarah Silverman has a new musical comedy coming out. Her "Family Show" musical is based on her book, "The Bedwetter," and is all about a 10-year-old growing up and her family life. The musical begins previews April 30 at the Linda Gross Theater.
Dr. Anthony Fauci now sez the United States is transitioning out of the 'pandemic phase' and going into a "control phase" of the pandemic. But Fauci, who's 81, has decided not to attend this weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner due to concerns about his own COVID risk.
Cartoons: Bad news for fans of "Super Mario Bros." Their upcoming movie, which was supposed to be out at Christmastime, has been delayed until the first week in April of next year (2023).
Movie news: Justin Lin will not be directing "Fast X," the 10th installment of the "Fast & Furious" films. The filming for the movie just began last week. It'll star Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Nathalie Emmanuel along with rapper Cardi B, who had a cameo in "Fast 9."
