Tube talk: Turns out Matthew Morrison was fired from his judge’s seat on "So You Think You Can Dance" last week because “he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant." People magazine reports a source told them the two "never met up off-set" but " he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media." She reportedly felt uncomfortable with the comments and went to producers, who did their own investigation, and fired him.
Shocker in Las Vegas where the Review-Journal newspaper reports the licensing company that controls the name and image of "The King" has sent cease-and-desist letters ordering the various chapel operators to must stop using an Elvis in various ceremonies. That’s a big problem, since the city's wedding industry generates $2 billion dollars a year, and Elvis-themed weddings are a big part of that. Authentic Brands Group, which is the licensing company, has reportedly not served papers to the Graceland Wedding Chapel yet, which performs 6,400 Elvis-themed weddings per year.
Authentic Brands (https://www.authenticbrands.com) also reps a slew of designers and other celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, boxer Muhammad Ali, Julius Erving, Shaquille O’Neal, and a bunch of designers and sportswear brands.
The folks at Pfizer, who make the COVID vaccinations, will also be working on a vaccine that works against Lyme Disease. Working up in Maine, which reportedly has one of the highest rates of Lyme disease infections, they’ll be testing the drug over a 13-month period. You get two shots a couple of months apart, and you’ll haveta get a booster the next year as well.
Food news: Say goodbye to Howard Johnson’s restaurants. The last one of over a thousand HoJo’s, up in Lake George, NY, closed this past week. The first restaurant opened back in 1925 in Quincy, Massachusetts, and it was the only franchise chain restaurant chain for a number of years.
In 1954, the company also opened their first motel, and that chain still exists, although it\s now owned by Wyndham Hotels.
