I'm a Poll Man:
SARAH PALIN may be all over TV this week as she plugs her book, "Going Rogue," but in a new poll most people say the former governor isn't ready to be the next president.
Some think --or hope-- the book is part of a long-term plan to position herself for a 2012 presidential run but just 28 percent in a CNN poll think she's qualified to serve as commander in chief; 70 percent say she's not.
Meanwhile, a new ABC News /Washington Post poll on Palin shows, "Just over half of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of her overall, as many say they wouldn't consider supporting her for president and more --six in 10-- see her as unqualified for the job." The poll also finds that four in 10 Republicans don't think she's qualified to be president.
FYI: In the CNN poll, HILLARY CLINTON two-thirds of participants feel she's qualified to be president; only 32 percent do not. Hillary says she has no interest in running again. (Maiman)Meanwhile, there's this:
Amid the publicity blitz for her new book, "Going Rogue," former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said today that "she was looking forward to reading it, big time."
Gov. Palin said that the book caught her interest as she was promoting it on Oprah last week.
"From everything I've said about it, it sure seems to be a page-turner," she said. "As soon as I'm off this book tour I can't wait to sink my teeth into it."
Former Miss California CARRIE PREJEAN echoed Gov. Palin's sentiments: "I am also looking forward to reading my book." (Andy Borowitz, at BorowitzReport.com)Big Money, Big Problems:
Don't underestimate the demand for BERNIE and RUTH MADOFF's former possessions.
According to CNN, an auction held over the weekend that included Bernie's Mets jacket and Ruth's jewelry, plus family duck decoys, brought in $900-thousand, a much better figure than expected.
Among the lots up for auction (all to benefit victims of his record-breaking fraud), the Madoff Mets jacket went for $14,500, and the duck decoys fetched $11,500.
If you missed out this weekend, not to worry. More auctions are planned. (Maiman)
Meanwhile, The King is dead, but his hair lives on! A hunka hunka ELVIS PRESLEY's hair sold for 1,772-dollars at an auction Saturday in Wiltshire, England. NME.com says Henry Aldridge & Sons only expected to get about 420-bucks for the hair which was saved by Presley's personal barber, HOMER GIL GILLELAND. (Marino)Tube Talk:
HEATHER LOCKLEAR is Amanda Woodward again as she returns to "Melrose Place" on the CW network tonight.
Look for actor ORLANDO JONES to join the Fox drama, "House," just in time for February sweeps. He'll play Foreman's estranged brother, who --as was mentioned on the series previously-- is in prison and up for parole.Hot List:
