I'm a Poll Man, take one:
Feeling better about the economy?
In the latest CBS News/NY Times poll, 41 percent think economy is improving, up eight points from last month and the highest since recession began.
Just 15 percent think the economy is getting worse.
PRESIDENT OBAMA's approval rating on the economy got a small bump --a five-point increase from last month. Nearly half --48 percent-- now approve of the job he's doing on the economy, the highest approval rating on his handling of the economy since last November.
Then again, 47 percent disapprove. (Maiman)
I'm a Poll Man, take two:
A slim majority of respondents in a new CBS News/New York Times poll approves of Arizona's controversial new immigration law. Fifty-one-percent like the law, and another nine-percent say it doesn't go far enough.
Thirty-six-percent say it goes too far. Still, a combined 64-percent say those illegals who are already here should either be allowed to stay as guest workers, or be allowed to stay while applying for permanent citizenship. (Pacelli)
Sucking the life out of the wire services:
Big rumor of the day is that "Bones" star DAVID BOREANAZ has been cheating on his wife with TIGER WOODS' mistress, RACHEL UCHITEL.
David --who's been married to his wife, JAIME, for nine years, apparently began the relationship while his wife was pregnant. And although he doesn't say Rachel is the other woman, TMZ reports that Boreanaz came forward with the affair because GLORIA ALLRED, who represents his mistress, went to David's lawyers and asked for a six figure payoff to keep things quiet.
The extortion attempt is why he went public with the story.
Now, David says that in spite of everything, he wants to save his marriage.
Stars and their movies:
The 2006 movie "Little Miss Sunshine" is being turned into a Broadway musical.
Entertainment Weekly says the movie --which was nominated for four Academy Awards-- is being adapted by the same guys who did "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," and will premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse next February.
The original movie starred GREG KINNEAR, ALAN ARKIN and STEVE CARRELL.
Movies that will suck:
And here's a shocker: E! Online says troubled actress LINDSAY LOHAN is set to play LINDA LOVELACE in a film biography of the "Deep Throat," porn star called "Inferno."
Lindsay's friend, TYLER SHIELDS, tells the website the news will be reportedly be announced at the Cannes Film Festival later this month.
