The President at play:
For many Democrats, today's election will --in some way-- be all about SARAH PALIN, even though she's not even running. Democrats have rolled out a last-minute push aimed at making Palin the point, and telling voters, "Don't Let Palin Win."
Democrats say an Internet ad featuring Palin's face is their "best performing" ad that doesn't feature PRESIDENT OBAMA. (Pacelli)Reasons to vote for tea party candidates (Maiman):
--Legislation by flashcard
--Picked up a lot of the jargon on campaign trail like "Congress," "Washington" and "tax cuts"
--Candidates who won't be out of touch with concerns of the not-so-bright
--Instead of a congressional office, new House members get boxes of styrofoam peanuts to keep them busy; instant spending cut
--Will keep those pesky Canadians under control
--New cabinet post: Secretary of Loons
--Candidates will finally learn what Congress does
--Chance to call newly-elected representative, ask "Is the racist there?" and hang up
--Ask self, "Am I more dumb now than I was four years ago?"
--Two more years of tea party jokesGrace notes:
DEMI LOVATO is in rehab. The actress-singer dropped off the JONAS BROTHERS world tour over the weekend. Demi's spokesperson says she is getting medical treatment for physical and emotional issues that she has been dealing with for a while. The 18-year old star of Disney's "Camp Rock" and "Sonny With A Chance" realized she needed help, and she's getting it. (Marino)
Sucking the life out of the wire services:
DAVID ARQUETTE may be playing the field like a twenty-one-old frat boy, but his wife COURTENEY COX has no plans on filing for divorce. The "Cougar Town" actress told TV Week magazine that the two aren't headed for a permanent split and has faith that "whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us." (Lee)
Cell Phone World:
Who's the biggest single smartphone company in the U-S? Until last week, it was RIM, who make those ubiquitous Blackberrys.
But brand-new research out yesterday from research firm NPD Group says that RIM has lost its smartphone lead to Apple, which now has a 23% share of the U-S smartphone market, making it the number 2 smartphone vendor in the United States. Phone producers which use the Android operating system, such as Samsung, are the number one producers of smartphones. But the single biggest producer is now Apple. What's the Buzz:
Do you wear a watch anymore? It may soon become obsolete.
One in seven people see no reason to wear one since they can get the time from their cell phones or laptops.
The younger you are, the less likely you are to wear a watch.
A British marketing study found that 28 percent of those 25 or younger were "unwatched," twice as many as those in their 40s and 50s.
Watchmakers are struggling to change the image of the watch from a time piece to a fashion accessory to convince young generations that watches are worth their time.
Editor's note: So isn't what this story is really saying is that six in seven people still wear a wristwatch? (Maiman)
