Bottom feeding:
MILEY CYRUS is a big believer in public displays of affection. The NY Post's Page Six gossip column spotted the sassy young super star making out with a new mystery man at a joint called Trousdale. The singer is now legal and celebrated her eighteenth birthday in a black leather bikini top, matching pants and let Mr. Wonderful climb on top of her --right in front of her mom and DEMI MOORE! (Lee)
"Desperate Housewives" star EVA LONGORIA is now looking for someone in Hollywood to remove her tattoos that are a result of her failed marriage. Chicago Sun Times columnist BILL ZWECKER reports Eva has been checking out experts who specialize in laser removal of tatts.
Losers in Lockup:
A South Carolina man is accused of robbing a convenience store with a stick, then using a lawnmower as a getaway car.
According to the Aiken Standard, Police are charging 45-year-old RICKY NEW with assault and armed robbery. Cops say he told employees at Kent's Korner Store to "give me your damn money" before smacking one of them with a stick. Then, he allegedly took off on a Craftsman riding mower with an undisclosed amount of cash. (Still)Tube Talk:
Not really good news for CONAN O'BRIEN --ratings for his second week were down 41 percent from his first week.
While we're on the ratings subject, despite JUSTIN BIEBER's four awards at Sunday night's American Music Awards, the show's ratings dropped 22 percent from last year, thanks to Sunday night football, which had the fourth best night ever in prime-time (not including playoff games or the Super Bowl). Nielsen says 11.6-million folks tuned in; it was also the lowest-rated AMA's in history. (Marino)
Stars and their movies:
Warner Brothers is doing a "re-boot" of the hit movie (and later, TV series) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
Daily Variety magazine says JOSS WHEDON, who created the TV series, is not involved in the movie re-boot. However, the new producer, CHARLES ROVEN, tells the show biz daily "Details of the film are being kept under wraps, but I can say while this is not your high school Buffy, she'll be just as witty, tough and sexy as we all remember her to be."
KRISTY SWANSON and LUKE PERRY starred in the 1992 movie, while SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR followed as the star of the TV series, which was then used to spin off the series, "Angel," as well.Turns out actor LEONARDO DiCAPRIO was on that jet plane on its way to Moscow when it blew an engine shortly after takeoff Sunday from New York City's JFK airport.
The plane had to make an emergency landing after circling for a couple of hours to dump fuel. The Hollywood Reporter says Leo signed autographs for members of the crew and passengers after the plane landed safely, then everybody was hustled aboard another plane to Russia.Aliens and anal probes:
When it comes to U-F-O sightings, the traditional disc-shaped flying saucer might be going out of style.
The Daily Mail says there's been a spike in the number of tortilla chip shaped objects in the sky over England recently. Just last week, a guy named MUNESH MISTRY claimed to see a giant Dorito-shaped craft hovering over his house.
He described it as "an amazing fast-moving and silent craft in the shape of a triangle made up of what appeared to be three lights fly across the sky at a mind-boggling speed."
Two weeks before that, another triangle-shaped object was spotted just a few miles away.
According to official reports, tortilla-shaped flying objects were first spotted over British airspace starting back in 2007.
Editor's note: Experts say the alien craft seems to come in three varieties: Regular, Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch. (Still)
