Divorce court:
NEVE CAMPBELL is putting out the "single and lookin' to mingle" sign. TMZ.com reports the actress filed for divorce from husband JOHN LIGHT five months ago after just three years of wedded bliss. Sources close to the situation say it's amicable and the two are still close friends. Three seems to be her magic number --she was also married to JEFF COLT for the same amount of time. (Lee)
Sick bay:
"Melrose Place" and "T-J Hooker" star HEATHER LOCKLEAR has been hospitalized in California for a bacterial infection. People magazine says she's on antibiotics and is expected to be released today.
Also in sick bay:
"Dancing with the Stars" winner JENNIFER GREY, who ruptured a disk in her lower back during her championship stint last week. "Access Hollywood" says she'll go under the knife to fix the problem later this week or next week. But, she says, "Compared to the other surgeries I had on my neck, my doctor says it won't be a big deal. I'll be home that night."
Trash talk and satellite dish:
KIM KARDASHIAN is going back to her old tricks and has her baby brown eyes set on another athlete. The NY Post's Page Six gossip column reports the bootylicious brunette watched KRIS HUMPHRIES from the New Jersey Nets take on the Portland Trailblazers last Sunday night. The reality darling moves quick --she spent Thanksgiving with GABRIEL AUBRY. Friends say she's "dating around a lot" and enjoying her singledom. (Lee)
Congrats to supermodel HEIDI KLUM and SEAL, who are buying a little fixer-upper in Brentwood. The Hollywood Reporter says the fun couple are shelling out $13.4 million for the 12,300-square-foot, eight-bedroom home, which was formerly owned by an investment banker.
Among the details of the house:
--a kitchen that includes a fireplace mantel imported from Scotland that dates to 1603.
--a formal dining room from Paris’ famed Pierre Hotel, which the former owner purchased whole at auction and had shipped stateside.
--and the library fireplace is said to be from Napoleon’s farmhouse in France.Models:
Hot on the heels of his deal with Under Armour, New England Patriots quarterback TOM BRADY has signed on to be a spokesman for shoe brand Ugg Australia. Though best known for its fleecy boots adored by teenaged fashion victims(“I can TOTALLY wear them in July with shorts! They BREATHE!”) Marketing Daily reports Ugg is launching its first global men's marketing initiative for the fall 2011 collection. The multi-year deal includes a sub-brand of Brady's casual footwear as well as select outerwear and accessories. (Kaye)
Rounding up the usual suspects:
After nearly five years on the run, a Saginaw, MI, man who shares a name with a Star Wars character was finally arrested.
The Saginaw News reports that 24-year-old LANDO CALRISSIAN YOUNG was arrested Monday by state troopers in connection with a 2006 gang-related shooting incident. Turns out he was living at a home in town and police believe the homeowners were helping him out and hiding him after the shooting.
No charges have been filed against the homeowners --yet.
Lando Calrissian is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in two weeks.
Editor's note: Jabba the Hut, meanwhile, is still at large. Still large, too. ("This is not the droid you seek." --Maiman)Grammy Nominations:
EMINEM scored 10 Grammy nominations this year, including Album, Record and Song of the Year. He leads the pack as the full list of nominees for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards were announced last night. BRUNO MARS is up for 7 awards, while JAY-Z, LADY ANTEBELLUM and LADY GAGA all scored 6 each. The statues will be handed out on February 13th and CBS will carry the ceremonies, live. (Marino)
Animal Stories:
Want to have the coolest Christmas lights on your block this year? Why not use an electric eel to light your tree?
Reuters has the story of the aquarium in Japan that's lighting it's holiday tree using an eco-friendly electric eel (picture). Every time the eel moves, it's electricity is harnessed by two aluminum panels submerged in the tank.
The eel generates enough power to illuminate the entire tree and a special ornament on top. (Still)
