Drugs and drug companies:
The hardest thing about developing a flu vaccine each year is determining which strains to use. The vaccine only covers three strains, including H1N1. But researchers may have found a way to develop a universal flu vaccine -- one that would protect people from all strains of influenza for decades or possibly a lifetime.
According to findings published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, researchers studied the immune systems of nine surviving patients who were infected with the swine flu in 2009. They found these people produced antibodies that could protect them from all strains of H1N1 from the last decade, the Spanish flu and at least one strain of bird flu. Researchers say these findings offer hope that it is possible to create a universal flu vaccine. (Page)Grace notes:
JAY-Z now owns a chicken restaurant in Brooklyn, New York. MTV says the rapper invested in his cousin Jamar White's place, Buffalo Boss, that serves organic chicken wings, along with deep-fried Snickers, Twinkies and Oreos. Jay's mother and sister are also business partners in the operation. Jay was born and raised in Brooklyn, so he's giving something back to his community. (Marino)
