I've been seeing and reading about the expense a prom places on ones budget; the student, the parent, the mother, father, son and daughter. The stories and situations are similar to shows like "My Super Sweet 16". Prom was a big piece of the graduation picture when i was in high school and it's stll that way at my daughter's high school but not to the extent that some of these stores tell. A dress and all accessories, hair, makeup, dance ticket, corsage and maybe a limo should be all it takes. And that in and of itself is pretty pricy. A recent posting on Momlogic.com found that peer pressure was really in control and teenage girls and their moms were not. I remember my prom and dress and date in fact thanks to Google he and I recently re-connected and reminisced about that night. Was it fun, yes it was a blast. Was it 'magical", no it was not. Was it worth six digits? Absolutely not. Dress retailer Kimberly Gamcale of Diane and Company noted that "the average couple will spend $800 for prom night, and in $4-billion industry. So far the highest amount recorded was $6,000. I hear that and think it;'s enough to get a new roof, pay off a car or college tuition. I could vent about the spray tanned roll models our kids have instead lets use this information and think about how our stations can use this in our favor. The basics are nice as a package or separately; hair, makeup, a limo, flowers, tux rental but if you really want to stand out perhaps you'll offer a chaperon.

She Beauty
She has gotten a manicure and ruined it before making it home numerous times. A chip while reaching for her keys or phone especially disappointing when getting nails done before a special event. The Shellac manicure requires no drying time and lasts two weeks without any problems. A special UV lamp is used to dry this polish in between coats when the manicure is finished she can leave right away. Shellac nail color is hypoallergenic and available at CND.com
