I've acquired and extra daughter per say this summer. Her name is AuCo; she a art major specializing in ceramics and a good friend of my oldest daughter. I love this extra perspective in the house, she's a great girl who is better at teaching my kids to cook than I am. Sometimes we learn better from our peers especially when it comes to stuff that seems like a mommy nag. Dinnertime finds us all around the table with our own eating issues, I'm no carb, my oldest is a diabetic, my youngest is picky and AuCo is a vegetarian. However there is an issue I never thought I'd need to address. I've always used dinner as a time to connect and seeing how my kids like to talk this is a very conversation time. Add in the fact that we are Italian and things can get pretty loud. All in love of course. AuCo told me that at her house she and her sister aren't really allowed to speak at the dinner table,a constraint I've heard of before but could never swallow. In fact the thought of not speaking during a meal is almost impossible in my house maybe even laughable but I digress. Trust me when I say we got AuCo up to speed real fast, in fact she not only adds a sweet element into the conversation, she's learned to weave her way in between all the blabbing and in a household of women this is quite an accomplishment.
