Creation

I'm packing for Creation Northeast, one of the largest Christian Music Festivals; 4 days of music with ten's of thousands of people camping on the fields on a farm in Pennsylvania. My 15 year old daughter and I are going with our church youth group. Whenever I participate in an event that involves camping I remind her to never question my love for her as camping is not my thing. However when camping with this group it's not so bad. I share a two person tent with a very good friend, and our youth pastor's brother is a chef and joins us with his cooking camper; we have a self-pump shower for the 'chaperones' and all in all it's not the worst way to rough it. Last year we had such a good time I'm almost afraid to go this year because it might not measure up. But of course I'll do it for the kids.

I'm packing baby wipes, extra bug spray, water and the oldest tennis shoes I have because as soon as you set foot on the farm ground you get covered in a layer of dust that just thickens on your skin the longer you stay. Nothing stays clean here very long but no one cares, not even germophope me. In fact, I'm looking forward to waking to the sound of a port-o-john truck sucking clean some of it's units, I can't wait to guide a few middle school girls through one of their many melt-downs and I'm really looking forward to sleeping on an air mattress. Now about those s'mores.
