Party Mom

My daughter is a birthday party hostess at the a local YMCA. She sets up the room, decorations, cake and pizza for all different ages and supervises them in the pool first then handles the room where the kids party. Every party is different depending on the age of the kids and the type of mom that purchases the event. Let it be known that if you hired a party person and you are not nice and do not tip them you will be talked about. The way you parent is observed, critiqued and sets the tone for the celebration. Bossy parents are everywhere and can really ruin their own child's special day. Bossy kids are just as bad. Of course all hostesses are instructed to be polite and helpful. All families are given a contract with the full drill of how their time should go.It really puts the hostess a bad spot when a party runs late plus it jeopardized the next party's time to set-up. My daughter would like to include things like; if your eight-year old throws pizza at his friends YOU must clean it up, if your daughter cries over everything YOU should console her and if the other moms want to boss anyone else around it should not be the hostess and dressing like one of the housewives of New Jersey is not the best fashion choice when you are dealing with a baseball court, a pool and flying icing. Yesterday my daughter ran a party for a single dad who seemed more interested inbeing her life coach than his daughter's dad. Another party had one mom announcing that her son Christopher's (age 13) first time using the potty was at that very YMCA......also not recommended.

The best way to enjoy a party where someone else (usually a college kid or young mom) follow the guidelines, go early to help set-up, treat people the way you want to be treated and offer the hostess a piece of cake, preferably chocolate.
