Sleep-away

I remember the first time I left my daughter for a two week stay at sleep-away camp. She was 9 years old and full of life; I was worried and excited for her. Camp Nejeda had a legacy a mile long, but could I trust this place to care for this kid better than I? No, but they aren't supposed to. Camps give kids independence in a fun environment. Rock climbing, white water rafting, arts and crafts, canoeing, swimming, what's not to like? Heck, I'd like to go to sleep-away camp. Instead, I take some special time with another daughter. I cash in a spa gif certificate and get a massage; I see a movie and I sleep-in, all while writing to my camper daily, telling her how much I hope she is having a blast. And she was having a blast. In fact, summer camp was a consistent topic of conversation year-round and while she reminisced and planned for her next time away, I was too!

So she's a germophobe, and highly dislikes sitting in an airplane seat that has been occupied by who knows how many other people and their dust mites. Thanks to a couple who spent a year flying back and forth across the country to keep their long-distance romance alive, she now can pur- chase a PlaneSheet. These are colorful fabric covers for airplane chairs, available in coach and first-class sizes, and come with a disposable or washable option. www.planesheets.com
