I don't know any woman that enjoys a smart-alec kid. I see moms ignore their kids when they act up, some moms yell, roll their eyes, some threaten punishment. It's a challenge that I especially don't enjoy. I was in the grocery line waiting to check out and there was a mother and a tween behind me. The daughter was beautiful and seemed content to listen to her iPod. When the mother tapped her to ask a question the girl did a complete 180 and snapped "what do you want," the mother was inquiring about whether they had cereal of not. The girl snapped back "like I care," the mom's come back was along the lines of "you'll care when you're hungry tomorrow morning." "No I won't!" the girl exclaimed. Then the clenched teeth come and mom starts the " don't you dare speak to me like that" speech. Even I was afraid to speak after that.
