Caulk

I can't let this week of celebrating the dumb things I gotta buy pass by without mentioning caulk. Certainly, it's a necessary item for bathroom and kitchen repair and tile management, but a tube of mildew-resistant caulk easily sets you back almost twenty bucks. I think about how much gas or groceries I can purchase as I plunk down this tube of white stuff. The girl at Home Depot smiles and asks if I want a bag for it. I don't even really want it! I have to buy it for my shower to prevent a water issue, so technically my answer is no, I don't want a bag. But I say yes thinking I can recycle this bag as a trash can liner. Twenty bucks for caulk and a trash can liner just sounds a little better don't you think?

Refillable aluminum bottles are showing up everywhere. They are economical, convenient, and very green. Swiss-made SIGG bottles became popularized through the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in 1993. She can design her own at www.mysigg.com.
