Grits

As far as carbs go on the West Coast it's all about the tortilla; the Midwest has their noodles; the east coast loves breads like Italian and those amazing Amarosa rolls that determine a true Philly cheesesteak; and in the south it's grits.I'm not a big fan of carbs, actually I'm not a fan of working off carbs, and grits seem like cream of wheat to me. But being the foodie that I am, I am now a student of the grit. My youngest daughter refuses to eat them because Dakota Fanning was forced to kneel on them when she played the part of Lilly in The Secret Life of Bees. My oldest girl is quite the connoisseur and has determined the smooth and silkiness of a good dish of grits is best. Cheesy grits that is. I made my first batch and they are easy and cheap. You just gotta keep stirring. Next week I'll add some shrimp. Y'all wanna come for dinner?
