Christmas in Stores

I saw my first decorated Christmas tree of the season one month ago at a Kohl's. Granted, it was in the back of the store with a few other holiday decorations, and I quickly walked past and soon found myself lost in the housewares department eyeing some Food Network items that were on sale. This interested me much more than getting a head start on Christmas. I saw pots, pans, dishes and cooking tools that I loved, all represented by the entire Food Network, not a specific chef. I finally settled on a cake stand with a domed top complete with a forty percent off tag. As I carried my box to the front check out, anticipating the long line that was surely awaiting me (Kohl's always has a line), I walked past the Christmas trees again. I decide that come December I'll use this cake stand to house the peppermint bark candy I plan to make. Until then it's for cake, seasonally speaking a fresh apple cake.
