Seat 33F

So I'm boarding an airplane which in and of itself requires a strategy. I knew my seat would be in the back, but because I was carrying on one bag I needed to make sure I found over-head compartment space ASAP. As I trudged down the aisle I saw that all the overhead bins in my section were closed. I asked the flight attendant, who was standing in this section, if they were full; I looked at her from three seats away and asked her three times. Finally she answers "are you talking to me?" I ask my question again and she waves me back and starts opening the bins which were...surprisingly all full. I then squeezed myself back six rows ,through people who just didn't understand why I was moving backwards untiI found a bin that would fit my suitcase. I settled into my aisle which happened to be next to a very large person who was not happy to see me. I wondered what went wrong with my strategy. As the flight attendants started to talk about smoke I decided it didn't matter.
