My 16 year old has a rare take of the world. We were seated in the front window of a coffee shop where I was introducing her to the French Press. When I asked how she liked the coffee she said it was smooth, rich and wonderful and that you could really tell a lot about people by the way they walked up stairs. Her view covered the entrance to this shop and she went on to tell me the struggle she watched as people started upwards. She admired the man who went ahead of his date to open the door noting that he was the only man to do that and enjoyed the others who took each step one at a time. Then she went on to explain how the stairs in her high school were a horrible thing to climb first thing in the morning (pre-coffee) on her way to Math class and how she dreaded this climb daily. What a rare glimpse she just gave me into her world. Too bad a French Press couldn't be waiting at the top of her stairs, that would wake anyone's mind up for numbers.
