I have a daughter who is working at a Sushi restaurant this summer. Getting to eat "the mistakes" are definitely a perk of this position. Last nights dinner was lobster tempura, a spicy tuna roll and Pad Thai. This is her first serving job. and I'd like to say it brings me great joy when she speaks to a difficult table, or when I watch her mop the floor as they close for the night. Honestly, I don't get joy, but a hope that she is learning balance. This daughter also has a internship at a high-end art gallery in Manhattan. The comparison of the lifestyle, customers and duties will serve her well as she rounds into her next stage of life. Most women serve well and end up in some type of roll that requires selflessness. I'm very ok with this part of the development for her, it pretty much guarantees me a nightly California roll.
