Sell

I have a no solicitation sign at my front door for a reason: so I won't have an uncomfortable conversation with someone who is selling! I don't like being surprised by a stranger at my front door for any reason, nor do I want my kids put in this situation. Door to door is not going to work with me, in fact I feel it's an invasion, unless you're a neighborhood kid selling something for school. Kids turn me into a big softy and thankful they don't know what the no solicitation sign means.
After the school year starts so do the fundraisers, wrapping paper sales, candy, cookies, raffle tickets. I try to buy a little from anyone I can and I also caution my kids not to over ask anyone when they are selling something. It's tricky balancing which friends are able to purchase something from your kids and which can't. There's usually an order form for someone's kids who is selling something in our work kitchen area. If it's from a kid belonging to a friend of mine, I'll buy out of support for my friend, as these projects really do bring funds to their kids schools. But, there are only so many people who you can ask. So far this year I've bought wrapping paper, chocolate covered pretzels, seeds and a magazine.
