In my world, today was the first day of school, make that the first-last day of high school for my daughter, Hannah. What once started with a ride in a carefully installed car seat to preschool, has transformed into my daughter driving herself to school. I'm not sure which was harder, waiting on the lottery to see if she would get a preschool slot, or watching her drive away this morning, knowing it was one of her last times. Okay, I do know what is harder: the denial. I am not the only mom dealing with this today.

Some government officials believe all children should be mandated to wear a seatbelt when in a vehicle, but adults should choose for themselves. Each state has slightly different seatbelt laws. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration showed that 85% of passengers sitting in the back seat wore seatbelts, which greatly reduced the number of fatalities in car crashes.
