I got my first Christmas calendar in the mail. It was nestled in between more back to school circulars and my water bill, which reminds me that I have got to put a timer on my kids shower. They must be taking some pretty long showers when I'm not looking; either that or someone is really thirsty this summer. Over $200 for a water bill is just wrong. So is the encouragement to start my Christmas shopping. But, not according the The Lakeside Collection people who offer everything from the Original Sock Monkey at $6.95 each to Printer Microfiber Rock & Roll Sheets at $17.95 for a Queen set. The cover offers a 3-piece Holiday Gift Set for $5.95. I guess the cheap prices are supposed to lure you in; they actually make me leery of how good the quality of these items could be. It's kind of like the dollar menu at a fast food stop. How good could something that only costs you one dollar be for you? It's got to be made up of the cheapest stuff. But I digress, and state that it's too early for jingle bells. Some of you may have already beaten me to punch on this. Every year all this holiday stuff really does seem to arrive sooner and sooner. There will be a point when holiday items will be kept out all year long in more places than The Christmas Tree Shoppe. And you thought your neighbors who kept up their Christmas lights all year round were tacky.
