Our winter weather on the East Coast is almost comical; we are cracking up due to the absurdly of having snow in April. There is a street in my neighborhood called 'Snow Ridge' and it's totally lived up to its name. We just had a snow storm that was hear and gone in a matter of days; just long enough to confuse the budding tulips who have been snowed on already this season. When plants get confused it's not good.
I don't understand people who have to rush to the store to load up on food supplies before the snow hits either. I get the need for rock salt, milk, coffee and bread but there are people in the grocery line with carts full of stuff. Can we really not make it a day or two if we were snowed in? Most pantries have some form of substance; a box of tuna helper, cans of beans, Bisquick. Would anyone really starve? I only go to the store if I want to cook something special for that particular storm, otherwise I play with whatever is already in the house. I usually opt for the latter because the grocery store is so crowded. Besides, one of the top tips in "living within our means" is to use all the groceries you buy and not to load up until you do. Translated, that means I gotta go make a tuna casserole with beans and biscuits.
