Today is my brother, Ray's wedding anniversary. Next Friday is my sister Bianca's wedding anniversary. They both got married in the same year one week apart. My brother planned his wedding first. Then my sister inadvertently planned hers and announced it after she had found her reception hall. My kids and I were to be in both weddings and no, my kids could absolutely not wear the same dresses in each. The earlier planning stages of these wedding brought about much silence and some hurt feelings. My brother's fiancé felt my sister's wedding would overshadow hers and vice versa yet no one was willing to change their date. I, on the other hand, was concerned with cost - not just for myself and the dresses, gifts and shower expenses - but for the out-of-town guests. Were they expected the fly back and forth in one week or stay for an extended visit? Yes, I recommended a double-wedding but neither bride liked me very much after that. My mother totally sided with my sister (her favorite child) while my dad sided with my brother. Talk about a conundrum, I mean isn't wedding planning stressful enough? Suffice to say everyone got married. I won't relive the details that led up to this, I'll just say sending two"Happy Anniversary cards is a whole lot easier..
