The hot yoga classes I attend have tripled in size since January 1, a common happening thanks to all who have a resolution the get fit for 2015. This creates a stir amongst the regular attendees who have gotten used to having their particular space on the floor. Location means a lot to those who work out; some prefer standing closer to the instructor while others, usually those who don't want to be called out about not putting out, stand in the back. The newbies disperse all over the place and usually land on someone's else's spot. We regulars joke that things will get back to normal by the end of February, because a lot of people don't stick with it. However some of us don't handle this change that easily. Theresa is a yoga fanatic. She always dresses in Lululemon and folds into her sun salutation with a vengeance, a peaceful vengeance. When class is over she stays longer to work on her inversions. You would think with her peaceful demeanor she'd manage well throughout these beginning of the year crowded workouts easily. Yet, anytime anyone is in her spot (right side of the floor in the second row) she tries to crowd them out. When it doesn't work she will literally ask them to trade places. Her forcefulness can usually make anyone move.
My spot is in the middle of the floor a little to the right. I don't really mind if someone is in my a space, yet I have taken precautionary measures to avoid this by showing up extra early for class. This too will only last a few more weeks. Namaste.
