Some she's have a true gift for gardening— do you have a green thumb?
I'm the only one in my family that doesn't have a green thumb; I sport something more like a French manicure. No matter what I do, I can't grow anything. My grandfather was a master planter and he and my grandmother lived off this garden year round. The pressure to live up to this standard loomed over me until I had my first apartment and claimed no dirt to grow anything in. My mother grows flowers that bloom more vibrant than Lady Gaga's hair, and my brother grows picture perfect vegetables his kids devour daily. Thankfully local farmer's markets and Whole Foods allows me the variety of a great garden without the stress or wedding. A new recipe recently had me searching for five different herbs in my grocery's produce department. I was challenged by the price and size of the herbs I was wanting to buy. They are packaged in such a large quantity, more than I needed for the recipe, and they were quite pricey. I decided it would be more cost effective if I figured a way to grow my own. After numerous attempts my desire for fresh basil seemed dismal. A friend recommended I get an Aero Garden saying "even I couldn't screw it up." And she was right, within weeks I had fresh basil, cilantro and parsley. It's a great way for anyone to get fresh herbs, especially apartment dwellers, as it does not take up much counter space. Yes, my grandfather might be disappointed that I'm not actually growing this stuff in the ground, but batteries are a beautiful thing in my world. She can grow her own too by checking out www.AeroGardenStore.com.
