The Dress

Homecoming is this weekend and my daughter Hannah could care less if she had a dress or not. She's a junior and a part of the student council, but feels these festivities are 'over-rated'. She's the complete opposite of her sister who enjoyed dressing up for this and any occasion very much. Thankfully, there are many hand-me-downs that will be suitable for Hannah to wear to the dance. It might not be to her taste and style but it's in house and ready to go. Moms need to keep track of this stuff otherwise I hear "oh yea I need a dress for a dance that happens tomorrow night". I am speaking from experience, and I know I'm not alone. Unless you are a beyond Type-A mom who is absolutely perfect down to the lipstick and full tank of gas every day, a forgetful memory is in your past. One friend's daughter remembered at midnight that she had volunteered her mother to bake 50 cupcakes to be delivered to school the next morning. I know this because she sent me a text at 1:00 a.m. telling me she was about to start baking. She had quickly driven to the nearest store to buy cake mix, cupcake holders and icing. It's worse when kids forget about things like due dates for science projects and book reports. Or when they forget where they left their expensive hockey skates or backpack. It's funny that the older a woman gets the more her memory gets challenged. I don't believe it's from lack of hormones, but from remembering everything her kids forgot along the way!
