It's time for Thanksgiving. She's finishing up at work, packing, traveling, shopping for groceries, setting tables, volunteering at a Food Bank, picking up relatives from the airport, picking up pies and turkeys, cooking, cleaning up, looking forward to and stressing about seeing relatives and friends. Looking forward to seeing her college kids too. Lots of retail workers have been training and preparing for extra long hours, they will work tonight, tomorrow and through Black Friday, many straight through to the New Year. In NYC busses will be filled with high school bands unloading as Macy workers prepare and rope down parade balloons. 5K fun runs, feeding the homeless, chopping onions and celery and even baking a Tofurky are on someone's list to do. The season of the free turkey doesn't seem to exist any more at least not at my grocer. But the turkey options; organic, brined, natural, HoneyBaked are plentiful. Thanksgiving is full of opportunity. Besides telling her your thankful for her listenership, you could also make sure she takes adequate time to really remember all she is thankful for. And, don't forget clean up; it might take 12 minutes to eat a meal that took a day to prepare, but cleaning up can take up a whole quarter of the football game.
