I had a recent outpatient procedure; that is a word that I have come to really dislike. I've also become very familiar with outpatient procedure facilities. These are places that allow you to get a minor to moderate surgical procedure, and go home shortly after. Your support team is so important the who work for the facility and those who will be driving you home. The whole ordeal is usually packaged up into one day that requires a lot of take home care. It's more cost effective for 'them' and supposedly us. I am not a fan of posting medical procedures on any social media. Seeing someone and their IV pole can be disconcerting. Words of encouragement and photos that don't make you cringe are highly recommended. After observing the staff and medical teams, I noticed a good 80 percent of the employees are women. These are women in the demo we are seeking to please. My procedure alone involved one doctor, a man, four operating room nurses, women, one female intake nurse, one female post-op nurse, and another female receptionist. It seemed to me that, since this field is so saturated with the demo we seek, you may want to send them a shout out, or bring a couple of extra t-shirts the next time you accompany anyone in need of a procedure.
